Now appearing at the
New Shanghai Theatre, 645 State Highway 165, just south of Hwy 76.
In its
15th season in Branson (2012), the
Acrobats of China celebrate the exotic wonders of
China with a fast-paced, exciting production with
beautiful backdrops,
state-of-the-art lighting and
beautifully designed costumes.
The Theatre was
invested in and
built by parties from
China and the United States, and it is managed by Chinese staff independently. With its
unique style of modern
Chinese architecture, the theatre has
1000 seats and features
modern lighting and sound equipment.
The
stage is of the most popular
widescreen design. The
outside walls of the theater are decorated with blossomed
flowers and cascading
waterfalls. Beside the
waterfall are huge
posters of the show. In the center of the parterre is a
bronze ware of more than 2 meters high from
Xi'an, exhibiting the unique visual enchantment of eastern culture.
You'll see elegant
eastern dance, dazzling acrobatics, mysterious magic, mystical music, and more.
Over 40 Acrobats bring the
Orient closer to Branson, while showcasing
Jar Juggling,
Hoop-Diving,
Daring Trapeze,
thrilling aerial ballet, and
exotic spinning plates in this huge production show.
Exotic backdrops,
state-of-the-art lighting, and
breathtaking performances in this fast-paced, exciting production celebrating the exotic wonders of
China. In 2008,
LeiGu "The Thunder Drums" was added to the show.
The
New Shanghai Circus is a spectacular extravaganza of
over 40 Acrobats of China bringing the Orient to Branson. The
internationally award-winning acts dramatically interpret
classic Chinese dance and physical performance art. The show features breathtaking feats of
strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, contortion and magic...and it continually
changes from season to season. You'll see a revolving line-up of acts including
Diabolo (Chinese Yo-Yo),
Bicycle Tricks,
Pole Climbing,
Russian Bar,
Aerial Fish Ballet,
Adagio,
Chair Stack and more.
Acrobatics are a
national sport in China and the
Shanghai Circus has been awarded numerous
gold and silver medals in competition.
An amazing experience, it's fun for the whole family. (Check out
The Acrobats of China website; you can enter it in
English or Chinese) It is a show that's as entertaining for
adults as it is for
kids. One warning. Make sure your
kids or
grandkids understand they are
not to try anything at home that they see on stage! Can you picture the "Group Chair Stacking" (with 8 chairs) in your kitchen? Or the "Exotic Spinning Plates?"
Ugh!
Your
two hours at this show will fly by as you sit wide-eyed. The performers' feats of strength, endurance, flexibility and balance really are amazing. The show can change throughout the year as new acts come to Branson and others go back to China. It won't matter, though. You're in for an absolutely amazing experience.
A good thing: the theater is located just south of Highway 76 on Highway 165. This can be good during high-traffic periods on The Strip.
Try not to groan when we say this...but it's true -
you have to see this show to believe it!
Shows are at 3:00 pm or 8:00 pm; January 4 through December 31, 2012. Click here for the 2012 calendar
Historical notes for the Acrobats of China: Its location is between the former
Shake It Up Showplace (formerly The Ain't Misbehaving Theatre) and
Coffelt Country (closed)
